OVERVIEW
Crisis Consulting International is pleased to present a rare offering of its Hostage Event Management Seminar. This seminar is a 5-day intensive course designed to prepare leaders of faith-based organizations to manage all aspects of a kidnapping or hostage event. The course will focus on the real world aspects of such events as they relate to the unique environment of faith-based organizations.
Using a combination of research, case studies and interactive discussion with hostages, family members, negotiators and managers from actual past cases, course participants will learn about all phases of a hostage event from the perspective of multiple actors and stakeholders. The primary focus of the course will be on the decisions and actions of managers and leaders in dealing with hostage cases.

- Managing media in kidnapping cases

PRESENTERS
Yolande Korkie – Ms. Korkie and her husband Pierre were kidnapped in 2013 in Yemen by al Qaeda. Ms. Korkie was released after eight months, though her husband remained in captivity and was later killed during a rescue attempt. Ms. Korkie is the author of 558 Days:…a true story, which brings her unique perspective of being a hostage, a spouse of a hostage, and a primary manager of negotiations with her captors.
Michael Johnson – Mr. Johnson is the former CEO of People International. He brings more than 43 years of mission experience as a field missionary, church planter, Bible teacher, developer of leaders, and executive director. He has ministered in more than 50 countries, founded several Bible colleges, and developed multiple church planting teams across Europe, Russia and Central Asia. He is currently the co-leader of The Refugee Network, which works alongside European-led efforts to reach Muslim refugees. In 2010, Mr. Johnson’s organization experienced a kidnapping of a worker in Afghanistan. Mr. Johnson will share a “CEO’s perspective” on dealing with a kidnapping event.
Bob Klamser – Mr. Klamser is co-founder and Executive Director of Crisis Consulting International. He is the world’s most experienced negotiator in the arena of missionary and faith-based hostages, having successfully resolved more than 100 kidnapping cases from all over the globe – most involving terrorist organizations.
LOGISTICS
The seminar will be hosted at The Navigators international offices adjacent to beautiful Glen Eyrie in Colorado Springs, CO, starting on Monday April 30 and ending on Friday May 4, 2018. Training will begin with check-in at 8:00 am on Monday and will end by 3:00 pm on Friday. Travelers may use the Colorado Springs Municipal Airport (approximately 25 minutes away), or Denver International Airport (approximately 75 minutes away).
Catered lunches will be provided and the cost is included in the training fee.

OTHER INFORMATION
Due to the intensive nature of the instruction, seating is limited. Participants must be presently associated with a faith-based organization responsible for staff deployed internationally. Advance reading will be required (provided post-registration). In addition, as confidential information from case studies will be included, a non-disclosure agreement will be required.
COST
Course fee is $795 per participant (includes textbook, instructional materials, and catered lunches). A $45 discount will be offered for second (and additional) registrants from the same organization, and for members of Missio Nexus.
