The Centers for Disease Control and Education are exhibitors at this week’s International Conference on Missions (ICOM) in Columbus, Ohio. The CDC told CCI that they are intentionally reaching out to the international faith-based community and are interested in dialogue, sharing resources and assisting FBOs in their work whenever medical issues or risks are present. The CDC participated in a security workshop conducted by CCI for short-term missions programs and followed up with a meeting with Bob Klamser of CCI.
A CDC point of contact for FBOs is Joanna Gaines, PhD, MPH, CHES; a Senior Epidemiologist in the Divison of Global Migration and Quarantine. She can be reached at (+) 1.404.639.4586 and at iym2@cdc.gov.
